Farmers Pick has expanded its product line to include meat and dairy to better support Australian farmers and promote a sustainable food system. Having rescued over 10 million kilos of imperfect produce in five years, they recognise that both meat and produce face challenges from corporate-controlled supply chains prioritising efficiency over quality, leading to higher costs and disconnection from farmers. This expansion aligns with their goal to improve the food system and support farmers.
We’re adding meat and dairy to our product line because it’s another way we can support farmers and contribute to a more sustainable food system in Australia. Since launching 5 years ago, we’ve rescued over 10 million kilos of imperfect produce from going to waste. Along the way, we’ve spoken with all kinds of farmers, including those who raise livestock.
Whilst meat and produce are grown differently, they face the same issue: big corporations control the supply chain, valuing efficiency over quality and good farming practices.
The result? We’ll all pay more for lower quality and lose our connection to the hardworking farmers behind our food. We feel that this expansion aligns with one of our fundamental goals to positively change the food system and support Australian farmers.
